Spring Festival 2009

Wow! What a great time this year. A huge crowd of over 400 people devoured 24 briskets, 27 racks of ribs, 10 gallons of beans, 400 jalapeņo poppers, and 120lbs of fries. Live entertainment from Empty Pockets, and mouthwatering BBQ from Johnny Pannell is the best food and fun you can ask for. We had a huge crowd the night before to help out with the cooking, and several people have said the food-prep party on Saturday nite is best fun of all. Even with the down economy, we raised an incredible $10,000 at the event, and decided to again donate this to Christ’s Haven in Keller who attended the event, and loaned us a second smoker and a 4 seat golf cart. We used the golf cart to shuttle people to their cars which were parked all over the neighborhood. Mark your calendar for Sunday of Memorial Day weekend 2010 and prepare for fun and fellowship.

Spring Festival 2008

We had an incredible turnout and a record setting donation. Our charity this year was an orphanage in Keller called Christ’s Haven for Children. Attendance was estimated at 325 people because the weather was perfect. Donations at the event totaled about $8000, but after some company, and private matching donations, Christ’s Haven eventually received a total of $20,000 from the event. They are in the middle of a construction campaign, and said this was a tremendous blessing. Visit their website at christshaven.org to see this incredible ministry at work.

Spring Festival 2007

In 2007, we had some rain early on, but about 200 of the faithful came out with umbrellas to enjoy another incredible show from Empty Pockets and all the BBQ favorites from Johnny Pannell. I think they made about 300 Jalepeno poppers, and they were gone before the second keg floated. We raised over $3600 for Metroport Meals on Wheels, and got some matching funds from Verizon. Mark your calendar for Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and be a part of this fantastic event.
